Wachs Utility Products has partnered with Knapheide to deliver the ultimate valve maintenance truck—combining maximum storage capacity with exceptional power and versatility.
Step 1: Choose Your Chassis Cab
Begin by ordering your chassis cab vehicle from your preferred dealer, ensuring it meets all federal, state, and local regulations. Wachs Utility Products does not supply the truck chassis cab but offers specifications and recommendations to ensure compatibility. We strongly recommend custom ordering your vehicle to meet the following minimum specifications:
- 19,500 GVRW minimum rating
- 84-inch (213.4 cm) cab-to-axle length
- OEM high-output 300-amp alternator or dual alternator arrangement (to support the service body’s 200-amp power inverter and the truck’s electrical load)
- OEM upfitter switches
- OEM rearview camera with prep kit
- OEM backup alarm

Step 2: Service Body Installation
After delivery, Knapheide will upfit your truck with the custom service body, including the Wachs Service Body Skid. Available with gasoline or diesel power (matching the truck’s engine type), the Service Body Skid comes preassembled by Wachs, complete with all mechanical, fluid, and electrical connections. The result is a turnkey valve maintenance truck ready for action.

Custom Service Body Features
- Custom service body painted Oxford White
- Rearview camera mounted behind the bumper for added protection (requires OEM rearview camera and prep kit)
- Integrated TM-7 HD Plus storage in the service body deck, with a rollup service door (TM-7 HD Plus and upfitting sold separately)
- Underbody storage for a 45-lb breaker and tools (breaker sold separately)
- 110V electric power system, featuring a 20-amp continuous (90-amp peak) low-frequency inverter with two auxiliary batteries and a 50-ft electric cord reel (requires 300-amp or dual alternators)
- Two-drawer toolbox for added storage
- Grip strut rear bumper with Pintle hook recess, Class V receiver (rated at 12,000 lbs trailer weight and 2,400 lbs. tongue weight), and cable steps
- LED warning strobe lights (front and rear)
- LED cabinet lighting
- Full-width cab guard, with rear-facing LED work lights and grab handles
- Key/shovel storage box, 132 in. L x 10 in. H x 20 in. D, above full-height cabinets

Service Body Valve Maintenance Skid
The Wachs Service Body Skid, designed for integration with Knapheide’s custom service body, is a fully equipped platform preassembled by Wachs. It is shipped to Knapheide for seamless installation and final upfitting to your chassis cab.
Standard Skid Features
- Fuel Integration: Powered by gasoline or diesel tied to the truck’s engine, eliminating the need for separate fueling.
- Valve Maintenance Components: Includes vacuum system, water supply, spoils tank, and HPU, all preinstalled and prewired.
- 500 CFM, 11in Hg vacuum system, for efficient debris and spoils removal.
- 250-gallon spoils tank with Wachs-exclusive hydraulic slide, tilt, and rear discharge, featuring a power-latching rear door.
- 2.5 GPM @ 3000 PSI pressure washer system, with an 80-gallon water tank and an optional hot water system for cold climates.
- Hydraulic Power Unit (HPU): Includes an HTMA Class II circuit with a 10-gallon reservoir, fan-cooled heat exchanger, and a continuous duty rating of 8 GPM @ 2000 PSI. Operates the ERV-750, optional TM-7 HD Plus, and hydraulic tools such as breakers.
