vCam-6 HD 12mm Pipe and Sewer Inspection System

Heads up — a standard termination spring on a D46 usually means big pipe. Long springs can coil on themselves in 6″ and larger and break the head. The short spring is the safer call on straight runs.

The Type-CP Reel

The reel, frame, wheels and crank are identical on every build. The pushrod is the decision that shapes how the camera behaves in the pipe — and you can spot it at a glance, because the two rods are different colours.

12 mm FlexibleBlack pushrod. Bends easier — laterals, cleanouts, 90s and wyes.

12 mm Flexible — black

  • Bends through tight turns without fighting you
  • Best for service laterals, cleanouts and roof drains
  • Pairs with the standard termination spring for turns
  • 200″, 300″ and 400″ reels

13 mm Heavy Duty — red

  • Stiffer rod transmits push farther down a long run
  • Best for mains, manhole to manhole, 6″ and larger
  • Resists coiling on itself in big pipe
  • The better match for the Type-B adjustable skid

Two Camera Heads, One Reel

Both heads are stainless with sapphire crystal lenses and adjustable front lighting, and both are self-levelling — the top of the screen is always the top of the pipe. The difference is size, and which pipe you work in.

D34-HD1.111.05.000011.3″ diameter. Service laterals, cleanouts, smaller lines.
D46-HD1.111.03.000011.8″ diameter. Mains, storm lines, bigger pipe and more light.

Heads swap in the field. You are not locked into the head you buy with the reel. Add the second size and one reel covers both ends of your work — run the D34 down a lateral in the morning, swap to the D46 for a main in the afternoon.

How the Head Comes On and Off

The head threads onto the termination spring. Inside that spring a coiled cable carries the signal down to the head, and lanyards run alongside it to take the pull load — so when you haul back on a stuck camera, the lanyards absorb the strain instead of the cable. Treat that joint properly and it lasts for years.

Camera Head Exchange Program

Camera heads take a beating. Crushed in a joint, burned by a jetter, run over in the yard — it happens. If we can read the serial number on the housing, we’ll exchange it for a new head at a fraction of replacement cost, no matter what shape it comes back in.

The Control Module

The Control Module is the dedicated viewer — screen, recorder and controls in one sealed case that lives on the reel. Everything is on board, so there’s nothing to pair and nothing to forget in the truck.

The left and right panels carry the connections, and sealed flaps keep grit and water out of the ports when they’re not in use — which matters when the module is sitting open next to a manhole. Click the panel thumbnails above to see both sides.

Or Run It Off Your Phone

The Control Module isn’t the only way to watch. The vCam Wi-Fi Adapter clamps to the reel frame and streams to a phone or tablet through the free VMC app on iOS and Android. It fits any Vivax-Metrotech reel, including older vCam-5 reels, so an idle reel goes back to work.

Control Module

The dedicated viewer. Nothing to pair, nothing to charge separately, 1 TB on board. Required for the rotate-and-tilt table.

1.111.01.00008

vCam Wi-Fi Adapter

Record to the device you already carry. Lower cost of entry, and it revives older vCam-5 reels the current Control Module won’t run.

1.114.03.00001

You can run both. The Wi-Fi Adapter isn’t either/or — crews with a Control Module add one so a second person can watch on a tablet, or so the homeowner can see the problem without crowding the reel.

The vCam-6 HD 12mm Inspection System is a professional pipe and sewer inspection camera designed for municipal utilities, contractors, and maintenance crews who require high-definition video and reliable performance in small-diameter pipelines. Built for demanding field conditions, the vCam-6 HD delivers clear imaging, durable construction, and dependable operation for daily inspection work.

Engineered for sewer, storm, and utility pipe inspection, the vCam-6 HD 12mm system provides operators with the visibility needed to accurately assess pipe condition, identify defects, and document underground infrastructure with confidence.

High-Definition Inspection for Small-Diameter Pipes

The vCam-6 HD 12mm camera head is designed specifically for inspecting small-diameter pipelines where image clarity is critical. High-definition video allows operators to clearly identify cracks, joint issues, root intrusion, debris, and structural defects that may not be visible with standard-definition inspection systems.

Clear imaging supports better decision-making for maintenance planning, repair prioritization, and long-term asset management.

Built for Sewer, Storm, and Utility Pipe Inspection

Municipal Sewer and Wastewater Applications

The vCam-6 HD 12mm system is ideal for inspecting sanitary sewer laterals, small mains, and wastewater pipelines where accurate visual assessment is required to identify defects and infiltration.

Storm Drain and Drainage Inspection

Use the vCam-6 HD to inspect storm lines and drainage systems to locate obstructions, sediment buildup, and pipe damage that can affect system performance.

Utility and Infrastructure Inspection

The system is also suited for inspecting utility conduits and pipelines where documentation and condition assessment are necessary for compliance and maintenance planning.

Designed for Field Crews and Daily Use

The vCam-6 HD 12mm Inspection System is built for rugged jobsite environments. Durable construction, reliable electronics, and intuitive controls make it suitable for daily use by utility crews and inspection professionals.

The compact camera head and flexible pushrod allow operators to navigate bends and transitions in small-diameter pipes while maintaining consistent image quality.

Improve Inspection Accuracy and Reduce Rework

Accurate pipe inspection reduces guesswork and prevents unnecessary rework. By providing high-definition visual confirmation of pipe conditions, the vCam-6 HD 12mm system helps utilities identify problems early and plan targeted repairs.

This results in improved maintenance efficiency, reduced downtime, and better long-term management of underground assets.
